Where is your office?
I provide all my services virtually via Google Meet or Psychology Today’s Sessions Applet, so I don’t have an office.
I have offices in California, Florida, and Massachusetts. Ohio coming soon!
What are your hours?
I usually meet with people Monday through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
How long are your sessions?
Sessions rarely last more than one hour.
Do you take insurance?
Mind Mechanic Rapid Resolution Therapy is not in-network with any insurance companies.
This specialty service does not have a billable CPT code for insurance companies. In the past, some companies have reimbursed a portion of the costs as out-of-network benefits. I can provide a superbill for reimbursement, but I cannot guarantee that your insurance company will accept and approve it.
Couples Counseling is often eligible for reimbursement. I can provide a superbill, but again, I cannot make a guarantee. Your insurance company makes the ultimate decision about reimbursement.
ESA Evaluations/letters and parent coaching are not reimbursable by insurance. I do not provide a superbill for this service, but I can provide an invoice/receipt by request.
How do I set up an appointment?
Call me at (925) 264-9739 or complete my
We can arrange a brief initial phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
We’ll talk about the structure of sessions, the cost, policies, and scheduling.
What age ranges do you work with?
I work with individuals aged 18 and up.
Who do you work with?
I work with any individual – regardless of background or dreams – as long as they’re over 18.
I also work with couples and parents.
What do you actually do in sessions with clients?
We connect on a deep level around a clear and concise shared understanding of what’s been causing “the stuck.” Then, we use the power and energy of our connection and imaginations to break the cycle of pain, darkness, shame, and depression.
We also laugh. A whole lot.
It’s really a wonderful time that results in your freedom from the weight of the past.
Do your clients receive assignments between sessions?
No, I’m not a teacher. I’m here to break the chains binding you to your past.
I’m not here to hold your hand – I come with the sword.
What modalities do you use?
I am a Mimetic Therapist, which means I use Rapid Resolution Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, and EFT. I use this framework in each specialty and with every population, including couples counseling and parent coaching.
What’s the difference between Rapid Resolution Therapy and EMDR, Brain Spotting, or those other things?
Imagine you’re showing a movie about a lion to a zebra.
The zebra doesn’t know what movies are, so it starts freaking out and trying to run away when it sees the lion appear on the screen.
Talk therapy tries to calm that zebra down by talking to it, a strategy that works about as well as trying to teach it algebra.
Psychiatry tries to calm the zebra down by doping it up, a process that can freak it out even more because now it’s terrified and drowsy.
EMDR tries to distract the zebra with other things in the room – in the hopes that it’ll help the zebra understand that the lion isn’t real, that it’s just a movie.
Mimetic Therapies like Rapid Resolution Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, and Brainspotting cut the movie screen in half, instantly relieving the zebra in a way that it understands. It doesn’t need to do anything now – the lion doesn’t exist anymore, so there’s nothing to escape!
What else does a client need to know to make the most out of working with you?
Think about the answer to this question: If you could let go of anything, what would it be?
Bring your answers to me – and we’ll gleefully obliterate them, one by one.
Why are you so confident Mimetic Therapies like Rapid Resolution Therapy work?
Aside from working on me (performed both by myself and other practitioners), I have repeatedly witnessed Mimetic Therapies work. And there is scientific evidence (searchable online) to support this!
In other words, I am living evidence, and every day, I use Mimetic Therapies like Rapid Resolution Therapy to change the lives of the individuals who come to see me – to help them be free – and I have helped train others to do so as well.
We have cleared the crippling effects of trauma accumulated over a lifetime in two hours. We have freed people from the hold of traumatic grief in 45 minutes. We have changed people’s lives with a single interaction.
This work is revolutionary. This work is game-changing.
We’re here to reach as many people as we possibly can.
Why do you do this work?
I do it because I enjoy doing it! I do it because it works. Sometimes I end up clearing in issue on a phone consultation, which is of course a terrible business move, but ethically (and impulsively) I can’t help it!
When I enjoy something, I like getting better at it. And when I get better at it, I’m more effective with the people I get to help. Ultimately, that feels good. I do it because it feels good.
Who does this approach NOT work with?
Anyone who would prefer to keep feeling stuck. And anyone who doesn’t want to do it.
What’s your professional training and experience?
I earned my master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with almost ten years in the field.
I am a Rapid Resolution Therapist and Certified Human Animal Interventions Specialist.
I am also the Founder of the Institute for the Relief of Suffering, a Nonprofit that trains people in Mimetic Therapies like RRT, IFS, Brainspotting, and somatic experiencing. To find out more, check out www.TheGoodIRS.org
How do you pronounce your last name?
What is your favorite color?
I have two actually: purple and orange. I have difficulty deciding which I’m more fond of most days, but I don’t let that get me down.
Purange!
What will you do if you run out of people to treat?
If after obtaining licensure in other states and then other countries I run out of people who would benefit from Rapid Resolution Therapy, I’ll probably start a dog and cat rescue. Or maybe manage a fast-food restaurant. Who knows?
